Our Doctors:
Dr. Gene Edworthy graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1981. He has built up a reputation doing clinical trials on new contact lenses, doing sports vision research and teaching in the faculty of kinesiology of the University of Calgary, and lecturing professionally on new technologies such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), which the Edworthy Vision Centre was the first optometric clinic in Canada to aquire and use. He has a strong interest in specialty contact lenses, and applying new technologies to diagnosing and treating eye disease.
A community leader, Dr. Edworthy has served on the boards of the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Olympic Foundation, the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary, WinSport, EducationMatters, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Fort Calgary Preservation Society, and more. He has also provided many years of service providing eye care to people of developing nations through Canadian Vision Care.
Dr. Glen Ong joined the Edworthy Vision Centre in 2015. A Calgary native, he earned his Bsc in Calgary, graduated with his Optometry degree from UC Berkeley, then did a residency in Ocular Disease and advanced contact lenses at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Glen has a strong interest in eye disease, myopia control, and orthokeratology.
